I was born in the late 80's. Similar to those born during this period of time, I do not have the luxury of owning mobile phones, laptops or iPads when I was young.
TM Homeline was the only way my classmates and I communicate. We used to check with each other whether we have missed any homework, discussed the questions that we do not know how to do or casual chat. My parents also used this to check on our safety and progress since both of them are working.
The nostalgic TM handset that accompanied our family
Using the house phone trained me to be a polite person. I have to ask for permission to speak to my friend if he is not the one who picked up the call. This gave me adrenaline rush when I am on the ringing tone anticipating that my friend will be the first to pick up. My siblings and I will also rush to the phone every time it rings as we would not know who is on the line.
My friends who grew up with me using TM Homeline
My mother felt that we need to start using the internet at home when I was in Standard 5 in year 1999. We used the TM dial-up internet connection by plugging the phone line to the 56k dial-up modem and dial 1515 from our computer. The speed was sufficient enough to check mails, read news, play flash games, download clip arts for projects and surf on Friendster. We have to inform her whenever we need to use the internet as she kept the password to herself because she was afraid we would surf pornography websites or spend to much time on the world wide web.
The only problem with the dial-up connection is that the modem could spoil easily if we forget to unplug the phone line whenever it rains. It will be devastating as we will not have internet access until the burned out modem is replaced.
The 56k modem with sensitive electronic parts
Our family started to subscribe to TM Streamyx in 2000. Life changed as our life was digitalized. Though there were minor hiccups once in a while, the friendly staffs at 100 tried their best to solve our problems and the technicians were cheerful and friendly.
The 3 lights that made my day
The growing usage of internet in our house made us built different interest. Me and my siblings hooked on social networks while my mother and father hooked on online shopping.
My mom is an online shopaholic
Following the social network trends, I have joined TM on Facebook and Twitter and participated in their activities such as Life is Meant to be Rewarding video contest and EC Open House.

These are my best memories with TM. I cannot wait to participate in more TM events such football matches, superstar concerts and awareness events to meet with people of different background.
